Describe a Puzzle You Have Played is one of the IELTS speaking cue cards questions. In this question, the candidate will be given a cue card containing a topic. The candidate won't be able to change the topic. They will have 1 minute to prepare for the answer and then 2 minutes to speak on the topic. 

After that, the examiner will ask questions regarding the topic. The candidate's answers will be judged based on four criteria – coherence and cohesion, grammatical range and accuracy, task achievement and lexical resource. The candidates will be provided with a pencil and paper to write down the points if they can't remember them.

Introduction

Everybody loves to play games either for fun or to learn new skills. From my childhood I was fond of games, be it  indoor or outdoor. I love games like puzzles because they challenge the person.

What is it like?

I used to play many games in my childhood, but Rubik's Cube is my all-time favorite. The puzzle has three dimensions. It comprises six colors, which are white, blue, yellow, red, green and orange.

How easy or difficult is it?

The Rubik's cube is a colorful row and column with a total of 27 tiny cubes. There are six sides, and each side should be adjusted so that all nine cubes on every side are of the same color. To solve this puzzle, some practice, tricks and calculations are required.

How long does it take you to solve it?

Earlier, I tried to solve Rubik's cube puzzle. But I failed to solve it. I tried a number of times, but I never figured it out. After failing so many times, I thought about learning it and focused on all the required tricks, calculations and tricks. I learned all through YouTube tutorials, and finally, I solved it. 

And how do you feel about it?

The puzzle is undoubtedly tricky, but I solved it with a lot of effort and trying repeatedly. I solved it because I never gave up and kept trying to find a solution.

Puzzles do not just entertain us but also improve our mental skills. Whenever I have free time, I play many puzzle games. I play these games on weekends to relieve my stress.

What is it like?

The puzzle I love the most is the jigsaw puzzle. I used to play it all the time in my childhood. They used to be my favorite games. The jigsaw puzzle is where one must complete a picture by arranging all the pieces.

How easy or difficult is it?

Earlier, the jigsaw puzzle was made for kids. Its advanced level is quite complex to solve. The jigsaw puzzles come in different sizes. I once tried to solve a 200-piece puzzle but failed.

How long does it take you to solve it?

I solve puzzles generally in 10-15 minutes. While for a large jigsaw puzzle, it takes me one hour to complete. In the beginning, even the Ludo is difficult, but success is definitely achieved as one learns and tries again and again.

And how do you feel about it?

The jigsaw puzzle improves short-term memory and problem-solving skills. They test your brain limits. I love the game because it's a stress buster for me. Now, the game is also available online, and I play it offline and online.
