Carleton University University Overview

Established in the year 1942, Carleton University is located to the South of Ottawa’s city center and is strategically placed for students, giving them easy access to shopping centres, malls, trains, restaurants, etc. The University today has more than 25,000 students enrolled in their undergraduate courses and more than 4,000 students enrolled in their postgraduate courses, out of which more than 20% of students are international students from various countries abroad.

Known for its approach in innovative research and exceptional way of teaching, the faculty at the Carleton University has been continuously striving in the field of research, enhanced teaching and developing new programs while improving the existing ones.

Emerging as a pioneer in world-class research, Carleton University has produced many award-winning researchers and has seen a constant rise in the international student population, with it currently being at 13% of the total students enrolled in various programs and courses at the university.

Carleton University Admission Requirement

The following requirements must be fulfilled to get admitted to Carleton University

  • International students are considered on a case-by-case basis. There can be some additional requirements, depending on the program you are applying to.
  • Students are required to submit their original transcripts from their last attended academic institutions. If they are not in English, then submit the translated copies of the same along with the originals.
  • Should provide the certificate issued by the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS) that compares educational credentials from other countries to educational standards in Canada.
  • Applicants must be 18 years old at the time of the beginning of the course.
  • You need to submit your English language proficiency test scores if you are coming from a non-English speaking country.

Please Note: If you are not a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada, you must obtain a valid study permit before you come to Canada.

Carleton University Scholarships

INTERNATIONAL ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIP  $3,000

  • All international students applying to an undergraduate degree program will be automatically considered for this award.
  • Students must have an admission average of at least 85%.
  • Students receive their choice of either $3,000 in tuition credit or eight months of campus housing.

UR CIRCLE OF SCHOLARS   $20,000

  • 4 awards for international degree-seeking students with the highest admission averages from identified regions around the world. Students entering in the Fall semester will be automatically considered for this award.
  • $5,000 awarded in the first year, renewable each year if criteria is met.
  • Students will also receive on campus housing as long as they continue to meet the criteria.

WINTER 2023 SASKATCHEWAN INNOVATION AND OPPORTUNITY SCHOLARSHIP:

INTERNATIONAL UNDERGRADUATE STUDENT EXCELLENCE AWARD   $5,000

This award will be presented in Winter 2023 only to 20 new international undergraduate students:

  • One award will be presented to each student with the highest admission average from twenty different countries.
  • Students must be enrolled full time in any undergraduate program at the University of Regina.
  • Selection will be based on the final admission average. Students have to submit their final transcripts before being considered for this award.
  • Funding for this award was made possible by the Government of Saskatchewan through the Saskatchewan Innovation and Opportunity Scholarship program.
