Program Overview

Studying a graduate diploma helps you develop knowledge and skills in your chosen subject area which will enable you to undertake a new career or further study.

Why study a GradDip?

Graduate diplomas are intended to provide the equivalent of a major in a subject area that is different to your first degree’s major. You may be eligible if you haven’t studied for a degree before if you can demonstrate an interest in the subject area and a satisfactory academic ability.

Human Resource Management

Play a pivotal role in organisations and gain the skills to recruit, develop and train employees to get the best results out of them.

Why study Human Resource Management?

Studying Human Resource Management at Waikato turns you into a strategic business leader who positively contributes to an organisation's people, performance and culture.

A career in human resources is all about selecting the right people for the right jobs; then knowing how to train, develop and motivate staff to improve their individual performance.

Working with people can be your greatest challenge, but also your greatest reward. It means you'll be involved in all areas of staff recruitment, salaries, employee benefits, training programmes, managerial behaviour and staff productivity.

You'll also get involved in company policies that seek to support diversity, equality, and staff wellbeing.

HRM students will learn how to apply HR professional practices to real situations in the workplace, such as carrying out a health and safety audit of a building.

You’ll also learn how to provide specialist advice to organisations about employment laws, writing job descriptions, managing change in the workplace, and so much more.
