A UNSW Foundation Studies Program is your supportive pathway to the First Year of any UNSW degree. 
Our programs are designed to suit your academic and English skills and prepare you for studying at university. We support you with personalised learning, small classes and social activities to help build your future at UNSW. 


What is a Foundation Studies Standard Program? 
A UNSW Foundation Studies Program is your supportive pathway to the First Year of any UNSW degree. The Standard Program goes for nine months, which is a faster pace than other Foundation programs we offer.

Our programs are designed to suit your academic and English skills and prepare you for studying at university, with specific streams that align with your degree. We support you with personalised learning, small classes and social activities to help build your future at UNSW.?


Who is this program for?
The Foundation Studies Standard Program has been designed specifically for international students who have strong results in Year 11 or 12, but have not met the entry requirements for their chosen undergraduate degree. 

As a pre-university program, you can select the stream that best aligns with your chosen degree, so your learning is more tailored. You’ll also be supported to improve your English, critical thinking and presentation skills, participating in lectures and tutorials that will prepare you for university.

Life Science Stream
The Life Science stream is designed for people wanting to progress to a Biological or Health Science degree. This stream is for students with a higher mathematical ability and can take you to a broad range of degrees, including Engineering, Medicine, Aviation, Medical Science, Health & Exercise Science, Psychology and more.

 

Leading to: Bachelor of Advanced Science (Honours)
Discover solutions to the world’s biggest challenges with the Bachelor of Advanced Science (Honours). This advanced-level degree caters to talented students and innovative thinkers. It’ll prepare you for a career at the forefront of scientific discovery and innovation.


Major: Climate Systems Science
Gain a broad introduction to the science of the Earth's climate system. You’ll gain an understanding of the fundamentals of atmospheric science, oceanography and chemistry. You’ll also have the option of focusing your studies in areas such as climate and vegetation, hydrology, biology, biogeochemistry or environmental and resource management.

    Potential scholarships up to $A7,500

    UNSW Sydney International Student Award
    Start a Diploma Program in 2023 to receive a 15% contribution towards your tuition fees. This award is available to students from eligible countries/regions who are starting their UNSW Diploma studies in 2023.

    This award is available to students from eligible countries who are starting their UNSW Diploma studies in Terms 1, 2 & 3 2022 or 2023.  To apply for the UNSW International Student Award applicants must submit a personal statement of no more than 500 words outlining their reasons to study the proposed program at UNSW. Find out more

    UNSW Pathway Scholarships
    If you are a high-achieving international student, you can receive funding towards your Foundation Studies or Diploma Program at UNSW College.

    Everyone is eligible for UNSW Pathway Scholarship consideration; there is no separate application. If you apply for the Standard, Standard Plus or Extended Foundation Studies or a UNSW Diploma program, you are automatically in the running, based on your academic results. The UNSW College Admissions team will assess each application and scholarships will be awarded based on academic merit.

    If successful, your scholarship details will be included in your offer pack. The value awarded will depend on your level of academic achievement so far.

    Note: UNSW College reserves the right to, at any time, remove scholarships, reduce the value of individual scholarships, or cease its offering of scholarships to eligible students without prior notice. 

    UNSW College Academic Award
    If you successfully complete a UNSW Foundation Studies Program and will progress to study a UNSW degree, you may be eligible for a one-year scholarship. To be eligible, students must be international students (not permanent residents of Australia); be completing a UNSW Foundation Studies program and have applied and received an offer for an eligible UNSW program.

    Ross Woodham Scholarships 
    If you excelled in your Foundation Studies Program and will go on to study a degree at UNSW, you may be eligible for a Ross Woodham Scholarship. 

    This prestigious award is awarded to students who achieve academic success during their Foundation Studies program. 
    Value: Up to A$10,000
