University of Waterloo Admission Requirement

The following requirements must be fulfilled to get admitted to the University of Waterloo.

  • International students are considered on case-by-case basis. There can be some additional requirements, depending on the program you are applying to.
  • Students are required to submit their original transcripts from their last attended academic institutions. If they are not in English, then submit the translated copies of the same along with the originals.
  • Should provide the certificate issued by the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS) that compares educational credentials from other countries to educational standards in Canada.
  • Applicants must be 18 years old at the time of the beginning of the course.
  • You need to submit your English language proficiency test scores if you are coming from a non-English speaking country.

Please note: If you are not a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada, you must obtain a valid study permit before you come to Canada.

University of Waterloo Scholarships

Scholarships allow us to celebrate and recognize your achievements! Entrance scholarships are available if you're starting full-time first-year degree studies and are beginning university or college for the first time.

University of Waterloo International Student Entrance Scholarship

  • Twenty scholarships, valued at $10,000 each, are awarded annually to outstanding international students admitted to Year One of an undergraduate degree program. International students admitted with an admission average of 90% or above will be considered. Selection will be based on academic achievement combined with any other Faculty-specific entrance scholarship criteria. An application is not required.

Eligibility & selection criteria:

  • Academic performance (minimum 90% admission average)
  • Admission Information Form (AIF) may be also be considered
  • Euclid Math Contest results (Mathematics students only)
