Accelerated Pre-Masters Programme Computing, Engineering and Health Sciences (ICAS) (1 Term)

A postgraduate degree in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) can be a great way to boost your career prospects whilst letting you spend more time studying what you’re passionate about – and by studying your Masters in the UK, you’ll also be developing your English language skills on top of this. This can improve your job prospects even more, by making you an internationally employable graduate.

Our Accelerated Pre-Masters Programme in Computing, Engineering and Health Sciences is a one-term programme of study designed to help you gain the subject knowledge and English language skills necessary to thrive at a UK university – particularly the subject-specific vocabulary you will need to get the most out of your degree.

Please note that you are expected to attend 100% of your classes at the International Study Centre or you are at risk of losing your Student visa.

  • Alternatives to Academic IELTS for UKVI can be used to join the Accelerated Pre-Master's Programme.
  • No need for an additional IELTS test before joining your postgraduate degree.
  • Allows you to work up to 20 hours per week, enhancing CV and career prospects.
  • Gives you the opportunity to travel and explore the UK between courses.

Progress to your degree

Once you complete your Accelerated Pre-Masters Programme pathway and achieve the required grades, you will be able to join your chosen Masters degree at Teesside University. By completing this pathway, you will be able to progress to the following degrees.

Leading to: Cyber Security MSc

 Cyber security relates to the technologies, processes and controls that are designed to protect systems, networks and data from cyber attacks. Graduates who understand the practices that underpin secure computer systems are in great and ever-growing demand.

Our MSc Cyber Security gives you a critical understanding of information governance and assurance, combined with technology risk management practices. You learn how to explore the threat landscape and develop countermeasures for cyber security attacks. You also study security for the Internet of Things (IoT) and the security concepts and technologies used in mobile devices.

You work in industry standard network studios that have an isolated network to use to support your learning. Studios also have a dedicated server room, enabling you to test the level of security on the networks you build. This course not only covers technical skill development, it also identifies the issues surrounding the often neglected weakest link in security systems – people. You explore a range of topics from Hacking the Human, IT Ethics and Law, through to IoT, Mobile and Systems Security. You develop your understanding of technology, cryptography, infrastructure, and the human impact on security.
