Accelerated Pre-Masters Programme Computing, Engineering and Health Sciences (ICAS) (1 Term)

A postgraduate degree in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) can be a great way to boost your career prospects whilst letting you spend more time studying what you’re passionate about – and by studying your Masters in the UK, you’ll also be developing your English language skills on top of this. This can improve your job prospects even more, by making you an internationally employable graduate.

Our Accelerated Pre-Masters Programme in Computing, Engineering and Health Sciences is a one-term programme of study designed to help you gain the subject knowledge and English language skills necessary to thrive at a UK university – particularly the subject-specific vocabulary you will need to get the most out of your degree.

Please note that you are expected to attend 100% of your classes at the International Study Centre or you are at risk of losing your Student visa.

  • No need to return home to apply for a new visa between your Accelerated Pre-Master's Programme and chosen postgraduate degree.
  • Alternatives to Academic IELTS for UKVI can be used to join the Accelerated Pre-Master's Programme.
  • No need for an additional IELTS test before joining your postgraduate degree.
  • Allows you to work up to 20 hours per week, enhancing CV and career prospects.
  • Gives you the opportunity to travel and explore the UK between courses.

Progress to your degree

Once you complete your Accelerated Pre-Masters Programme pathway and achieve the required grades, you will be able to join your chosen Masters degree at Teesside University. By completing this pathway, you will be able to progress to the following degrees.

Leading to: Crime Intelligence and Data Analytics MSc

 Understanding data is becoming increasingly important for us all. This is especially true for the intelligence analyst working for a police intelligence unit or business analytics department. The world constantly presents data in data frames or spreadsheets – our daily activities are invariably logged by a time, date or geolocation.

 The work boundaries of traditional police intelligence analysts and digital forensic investigators are becoming blurred. Analysts now need to be cyber aware and understand how communication records and web search histories can be extracted and analysed.

This course covers these areas and the theories to help understand the causes of crime and the prevention measures to stabilise and reverse these trends. You develop the skills to work effectively with large datasets, allowing you to make more informed decisions in relation to criminal investigations. Key features include writing code to quickly clean up data and packaging it so it’s suitable for analysis and visualisation. You explore strategies employed in forensic investigation and develop your own area of interest in a research project where you maximise your skillsets, from academic writing to data analytics.
