Program Overview

Asset Management

The Asset Management program prepares you to evaluate the financial performance of asset operations, identify business issues and recommend action plans.

You will gain industry experience and learn through case studies, guest lectures and field trips. You will develop client management, communications and strategic analysis knowledge to plan for the full life cycle of an organization’s assets. A final capstone project will give you the opportunity to work with other students and an industry partner on a real-world assignment.

The program also integrates sustainable approaches and helps you build leadership skills to support stakeholders from diverse technical, financial and cultural backgrounds.

Skills
Throughout this program you will develop the following skills:

  • Asset evaluation
  • Effective communication
  • Strategic planning
  • Sustainable life cycle management
  • Risk management and performance improvement

Sustainable Business Management

This eight-month graduate certificate program focuses on the long-term economic, environmental and social value of sustainable business strategy.

This program is designed to meet the growing needs of professionals who can propose, measure and evaluate sustainability initiatives. You will learn to develop and implement economically viable, lean business strategies for existing organizations or pursue entrepreneurship in sustainability. As a student of this program, you will have access to our HELIX innovation incubator.

Skills
You will learn to measure and reduce carbon footprints, recommend lean business strategies and integrate sustainability initiatives and strategies within several projects.

Optional Work Term
Students meeting all academic requirements may have the opportunity to complete an optional work term(s) in a formal work environment. The work term(s) is similar in length to an academic semester and typically involves full-time work hours that may be paid or unpaid. In programs with limited work term opportunities, additional academic requirements and a passing grade on a communication assessment may be required for eligibility. Eligibility for participation does not guarantee a work position will be secured. Additional fees are required for those participating in the optional work term stream regardless of success in securing a work position.
