Diploma of Engineering

The Diploma of Engineering is your starting point if you want to study the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) at UTS. The course allows successful students to FAST TRACK into the second year of study at UTS. Students who successfully complete the course move forward with an understanding of the practical applications for engineering, along with the skills to communicate professionally and ethically in engineering environments.
Leading to: Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)
This course is identical to the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) Diploma in Professional Engineering Practice (C09067), with the exception that there is no Diploma in Professional Engineering Practice requirement.
This program is a comprehensive preparation for careers in the professional practice of engineering. Students learn to deal with complex systems and manage large-scale projects using the most appropriate emerging technologies.
Major: Software Engineering
Software engineers focus on large, complex, and critical software systems that are ubiquitously connected to our daily lives. In this major, you will learn about the design, analysis, and management of software to ensure safe, reliable, secure, and maintainable systems. It goes beyond programming. You will develop skills to identify issues with existing systems and create new possibilities with the application of software design.
Career opportunities from software engineering can be found in almost every large organisation across industry sectors including medical, transport, aviation, defence, telecommunications, banking and finance, tertiary research and development.
