Program Overview

The Bachelor of Nursing Enrolled Nurse to Registered Nurse Pathway is specifically designed for enrolled nurses to become registered nurses in just two years (or part-time equivalent).

Specialist conversion units lead into units that build knowledge in professional nursing, biological sciences and social sciences, building on your professional experience and previous study. You’ll have the opportunity to undertake Work Integrated Learning in a variety of settings based on availability and supervisory facilities and learn in state-of-the-art facilities with interactive models and simulation laboratories.

This pathway program is for Enrolled Nurses who are graduates of an ANMAC-approved HLT51612 or HLT51607 Diploma in Nursing (Enrolled-Division 2 Nursing), HLT54121 Diploma of Nursing or HLT54115 Diploma of Nursing. The course requires current Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) registration as an Enrolled Nurse.

Placements, work experience and study hours:

Supervised Work Integrated Learning of at least 600 hours provide students with experiences of nursing in public and private hospitals and health agencies. The 600 hours of professional placement is spread across several units within the course and is required to meet AHPRA registration requirements.

WIL may include acute and low care health facilities; community settings; mental health facilities; extended residential aged care; GP practices; health promotion and education; intensive care; health clinics; accident and emergency; palliative care; primary health care settings and related nursing and health services within metropolitan, regional and rural areas throughout NSW and QLD. Students may be able to undertake national and international clinical placements.

WIL is a vital part of your professional experience and comes with specific expectations and responsibilities. Please read the following carefully before applying for the course:

  • Placement Locations: While we consider your current residential address when allocating placements, local placements are not guaranteed. It is essential to keep your address up to date in MyEnrolment, as inaccurate information may result in a placement that requires extended travel.
  • Travel and Costs: You should be prepared to travel to your allocated placement, which may be outside your immediate local area. You will require access to reliable transport to complete shifts that may occur during mornings, afternoons, nights, and weekends. You are responsible for organising and covering any associated costs, including travel, accommodation, and related expenses.
  • Fit-to-Practice Requirements: Before attending any placement, you must meet mandatory compliance requirements, which may include, but are not limited to, immunisations (as per the Australian National Immunisation Program), mask-fit testing, First Aid and CPR certification and National Police Certificate checks.
