Degree Transfer Extended program - Engineering
Our three-semester Degree Transfer Extended Engineering program is tailored to prepare you for your chosen undergraduate degree at the University of Newcastle. It provides a pathway into one of Australia’s best Engineering Schools. The University of Newcastle is a Group of Eight affiliative member for Engineering and is ranked top 100 in the world for both Civil and Structural Engineering. Automation and Control Engineering is also ranked 11th in the world.

What is electrical and electronic engineering? Electrical and electronic engineers design and build systems and machines that automate, control, generate, transmit, measure, and use electrical energy essential to modern life.
At the University of Newcastle we train electrical engineers capable of solving the greatest global electronic challenges. With a Bachelor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (Honours), you could work with power systems, renewable energy technologies, industrial electronics, robotics, control and automation systems, Industry 4.0, or telecommunication systems.
You might develop precision agriculture technology to increase food production efficiency and even build smart grid systems to help manage alternative energy resources. Opportunities exist in the development of electric vehicle drives for air, land and sea as well as their respective control systems. Or, follow in the footsteps of our team of researchers and develop life-changing medical technology – like the artificial pancreas.

Scholarships
CIE Program Scholarships
- Up to 20% tuition fee reduction on all CIE programs; amount varies on applicant’s background, e.g. high school grades.
Excellence Scholarships* - A$10,000/year
Available to students from the following regions once progressed to their University degree:
Africa, ASEAN, South Asia, or based Onshore (any nationality).
OR
International Excellence Scholarships* - A$15,000/year
Available to students once progressed into specific:
- IT & Computer Science programs
- Management, Accounting and Finance programs
Eligibility:
To be eligible for all Excellence scholarships:
- Foundation Studies and Express Preparation Program students need to achieve an average mark of 67%;
- Degree Transfer and Degree Transfer Extended students need to achieve an average mark of 50%; and
- Pre-Master’s students will need to achieve a Credit average when progressing into their University degrees.
Rest of the World Scholarship – 10% off tuition fees/year
- Students who do not meet the above eligibility requirements but have met the minimum progression requirements will get 10% tuition fee reduction per year –worth up to A$17,575 over 4 years.
