Northern College of Applied Arts and Technology, popularly known as the Northern College is located in Timmins, Ontario Canada. One of the largest applied arts and technology college, it was founded in 1967. The catchment area extends across 58,000 square miles or 160,000 square kilometres. It serves more than 65 communities within North Eastern Ontario through four campuses situated in Timmins (Porcupine), Kirkland Lake, Moosonee, and Haileybury. It receives an annual enrolment of approximately 1,790 full-time and annual part-time and continuing education exceeding 11,000, and 165 apprenticeship enrolments. The pride of Northern College lies in offering students a rich learning environment including a brilliant variety of experiential learning opportunities through co-op programs.
Having over 75 full-time, part-time, certificate, diploma and apprenticeship programs, and hundreds of in-class, web-based, and correspondence courses, students are sure to find the right programs that fit their ambitions. The college also provides post-secondary and career entrance preparation programs and academic upgrading to help students steer in the direction they want to go.

Northern College Haileybury Campus
Students come from across Ontario to study in the modern Veterinary Sciences Centre at the Haileybury Campus. Get leading-edge training in state-of-the-art labs equipped with the latest technology like our underwater treadmill. Check out programs like the three-year Veterinary Technology – Wildlife Rehabilitation program; the only one of its kind in Ontario!
If you dream of living on the shores of a picturesque lake surrounded by miles of countryside in the heart of northern Ontario, you may just belong in Haileybury. The community – part of a collection of communities known as Temiskaming Shores, is located on the edge of beautiful Lake Temiskaming which stretches out over 100 kilometres!
The city is home to numerous museums, an art gallery, live theatre and multiple venues that feature live music. The downtown and Timiskaming Square offer great shopping. For outdoor enthusiasts, the city features two golf courses, campgrounds, horseback riding and both downhill and cross-country ski facilities. The South Temiskaming Active Travel Association and the government also maintain a series of walking trails that connect the communities that form the city.

Admission Requirement
The following requirements must be fulfilled to get admitted to Northern College
- International students are considered on case-by-case basis. There can be some additional requirements, depending on the program you are applying to.
- Students are required to submit their original transcripts from their last attended academic institutions. If they are not in English, then submit the translated copies of the same along with the originals.
- Should provide the certificate issued by the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS) that compares educational credentials from other countries to educational standards in Canada.
- Applicants must be 18 years old at the time of the beginning of the course.
- You need to submit your English language proficiency test scores if you are coming from a non-English speaking country.
Please note: If you are not a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada, you must obtain a valid study permit before you come to Canada.

Scholarships
Northern College is excited to offer the following new awards for International students enrolling in the college's programs which commence this September, 2020.
- $1000 General Entrance award to all new International students enrolling in a 2-year diploma program, or 1-year graduate diploma program, or 1-year Personal Support Worker certificate payable in 2nd semester, after Day 10, as a credit to student account, as with domestic students (same title - Proud to be Northern Entrance Award).
- $1000 Merit Award to all new International students enrolled in a 2-year diploma program or 1-year graduate diploma program completing their first semester wholly online in home country and coming to Northern College in Canada for 2nd semester, payable in 2nd semester, after Day 10, as a credit to student account.
- $1000 ESL Proficiency Award to all new International students enrolled in a 2 year diploma program or 1-year graduate diploma program and having an IELTS score of 7.5 or better, verified by the college's Accuplacer Testing upon arrival at one of our college campuses, payable in 2nd semester, after Day 10, as a credit to student account.
- $1000 Program-Specific Entry award for each new International enrollment in certain specifically identified programs, payable in 2nd semester, after Day 10, as a credit to student account. Specified programs are:
- Instrumentation and Control Engineering
- Welding Programs
- Police Foundations
- Pre-Service Firefighter Education and Training
- Personal Support Worker
- $1000 Country Award -1 per top applicant arriving from each country other than Canada, payable in 2nd semester, after Day 10, as a credit to student account.
- $100 Textbook Bursary to all Intl students upon first in-person registration at Northern College. This is issued as a non-transferable coupon at Orientation and is presented at the college bookstore in first week to cover the first $100 cost of purchased or rented new or used textbooks. Texts and costs vary by program, but through rentals and/or used book purchases this covers approximately half of all required textbook costs in the first semester
