Program Overview

The MSc Industrial Biotechnology will appeal to those with a primary industrial background as a further training opportunity and as a means of becoming involved in this important field, as well as being suitable for recent graduates and early-career professionals from a variety of backgrounds.

The course has been designed in direct response to industry needs and is at the forefront of developments in biotechnology and engineering. Course content is informed by industry and reviewed annually to ensure it is up-to-date and optimally-aligned to the rapidly growing industrial biotechnology sector.

This unique MSc degree is awarded by the University of Strathclyde; teaching takes place at Strathclyde’s campus in Glasgow and the following higher education institutions across Scotland:

  • Abertay University
  • Glasgow Caledonian University
  • Heriot-Watt University
  • Innogen Institute
  • Scottish Association for Marine Science
  • University of Edinburgh
  • University of Glasgow
  • University of the Highlands and Islands

Associated travel expenses are reimbursed. Teaching on the course combines the expertise of staff from a wide range of academic institutions.

    Scholarships

    This is also a reminder that there is up to 200 scholarships of between £5,000-£7,000 offered by our Faculty of Science for all the below programmes.

    Academic Experienced Required

    Applicants who have an academic background in computer programming, should only be applying for one of our Advanced Level MSc programmes such as some of the programmes that are listed below:

    • Advanced Computer Science, MSc
    • Advanced Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence, MSc
    • Advanced Computer Science with Data Science, MSc
    • Advanced Computer Science with Software Engineering, MSc
    • Cyber Security, MSc

    For applicants who do not have a background in computer science from their bachelor’s degree study, they should be applying for one of our Conversion MSc programmes listed below.  Applicants that have a computer science background that apply for the conversion programmes, will not be considered.

    Conversion – no experience required

    Applicants should receive the link to apply for the scholarship within their offer letter, where they will be required to complete an additional application form and small scholarship essay.
    The deadline to apply for the scholarship is July 31st 2024. If you have any applicants that have not received the application form within their offer letter, please do let us know and we will ensure they are sent this from the faculty as soon as possible.
