Program Overview

The combination of mechanical, electrical, electronic, computing, measurement and control elements are now an important part of most modern engineering systems and are essential to meet new challenges in engineering innovation.
Examples include energy generation, hybrid petrol/electric vehicles, aircraft design, satellite technology, robotic systems and technology for a sustainable environment.

This course covers key areas of both electrical and mechanical engineering reflecting the multidisciplinary nature of modern engineering. There's a demand for graduates with expertise within and across the boundaries of both disciplines.

The degree has dual accreditation by the Institution of Engineering and Technology and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers meaning that you will be able to capitalise on career opportunities in both or either subject.

    This is also a reminder that there is up to 200 scholarships of between £5,000-£7,000 offered by our Faculty of Science for all the below programmes.

    Academic Experienced Required

    Applicants who have an academic background in computer programming, should only be applying for one of our Advanced Level MSc programmes such as some of the programmes that are listed below:

    • Advanced Computer Science, MSc
    • Advanced Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence, MSc
    • Advanced Computer Science with Data Science, MSc
    • Advanced Computer Science with Software Engineering, MSc
    • Cyber Security, MSc

    For applicants who do not have a background in computer science from their bachelor’s degree study, they should be applying for one of our Conversion MSc programmes listed below.  Applicants that have a computer science background that apply for the conversion programmes, will not be considered.

    Applicants should receive the link to apply for the scholarship within their offer letter, where they will be required to complete an additional application form and small scholarship essay.
    The deadline to apply for the scholarship is July 31st 2024. If you have any applicants that have not received the application form within their offer letter, please do let us know and we will ensure they are sent this from the faculty as soon as possible.
