Undergraduate Foundation Programme in Engineering and Sciences
The Undergraduate Foundation Programme in Engineering and Sciences is a preparation programme for international students who don’t meet the direct entry requirements for an undergraduate degree at the University of Strathclyde. This pathway will prepare you for your chosen undergraduate degree at the Faculty of Engineering or Faculty of Science. Once you successfully complete the programme, you will progress to the second year of a four-year undergraduate degree.
You will study three core modules that will focus on general skills useful in your progression degree, plus route modules specific to your academic area.
Once you have completed the Undergraduate Foundation Programme, and subject to satisfying the progression criteria, you can proceed to the second year* of your four-year degree at the University.
Leading to: Biochemistry BSc (Hons)
Biochemistry focuses on processes happening at a molecular level. It examines what’s happening inside our cells, studying components like proteins, lipids and organelles. It also looks at how cells communicate with each other, for example during growth or fighting illness. Biochemists need to understand how the structure of a molecule relates to its function, allowing them to predict how molecules will interact.
Biochemistry covers a range of scientific disciplines, including genetics, microbiology, forensics, plant science and medicine.
Biochemistry is central in supporting our understanding of health and disease. Biochemists play a key role in developing new medicines and work with a range of other professionals such as healthcare, chemists and policy-makers.

Scholarships For Your Pathway Programme and University Degree:
If you are a self-funded student, you could be eligible for a combined scholarship from the University of Strathclyde International Study Centre and the University for your pathway programme as well as your undergraduate or postgraduate study.
How do I get a Scholarship?
International Study Centre scholarships are available for the Undergraduate Foundation Programme , International Year One BBA and Pre-Masters Programme. These scholarships are awarded on a first come, first served basis and are subject to availability. You must request the scholarship when applying for your pathway programme .
Once you progress from the International Study Centre, the University of Strathclyde then awards scholarships each academic year upon achieving 60%.
