Program Overview
Pre-Masters Programme in Business and Social Sciences
Pre-Masters Programme in Business and Social Sciences, this two-term pathway will prepare you for your postgraduate degree at the Strathclyde Business School or Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.
You’ll study useful skills for your Masters degree, such as research skills and communication, as well as an optional route module related to your progression goals. Our Academic English Skills module ensures your language ability is suited to postgraduate study at a UK university.
Once you have completed the Pre-Masters Programme in Business and Social Sciences, and subject to satisfying the progression criteria, you can proceed to your postgraduate degree at the University.
Leading to: Politics MSc
If you're looking for work in the public sector, the third sector or with non-governmental organisations our MSc in Politics is the course for you. It's also excellent preparation for PhD work in politics or in the social sciences.
The School of Government & Public Policy has a number of research centres that relate to the topics covered and the content of the course. For example, the European Policies Research Centre is a leading hub for the study of regional development policy and collection of such data in Europe, a centre that is of increasing importance in the wake of Brexit.
Specialised policy centres focused on health and energy – such as the Centre for Energy Policy – also add to the applied policy environment at Strathclyde. The Institute for Future Cities' City Observatory, located in Strathclyde’s award-winning Technology & Innovation Centre, uses data to understand and address urban problems. The University also has many centres and institutes with projects that incorporate European governance and political issues, such as the Fraser of Allander Institute.

Scholarships For Your Pathway Programme and University Degree:
If you are a self-funded student, you could be eligible for a combined scholarship from the University of Strathclyde International Study Centre and the University for your pathway programme as well as your undergraduate or postgraduate study.
How do I get a Scholarship?
International Study Centre scholarships are available for the Undergraduate Foundation Programme , International Year One BBA and Pre-Masters Programme. These scholarships are awarded on a first come, first served basis and are subject to availability. You must request the scholarship when applying for your pathway programme .
Once you progress from the International Study Centre, the University of Strathclyde then awards scholarships each academic year upon achieving 60%.
