Program Overview

International Foundation Year in Sciences Life Sciences and the Environment
The international Foundation Year in Sciences Life Sciences and the Environment is designed to prepare you for the first year of your undergraduate degree at Royal Holloway. This is a fast-paced, three-term foundation programme, specifically designed for international students interested in beginning their international education journey.

What you will study
The programme consists of core and optional modules. Core modules will improve your academic and English language skills, and optional modules will teach you more about your chosen progression degree.

Once you have successfully completed your International Foundation Year and achieved the required progression grades, you will be well-equipped to start your undergraduate degree at Royal Holloway.

Leading to: Geography BSc (Hons)

The interactions between humans and our physical world are fascinating, from our responses to the physical features and phenomena of our planet to the interplay between regional geographical characteristics and the cultures that call those regions home. Study Geography at Royal Holloway, University of London and you’ll enjoy a universal subject, exploring topics including social development, patterns of trade and how geographic factors interact with both one another and human goals.

This adaptable course lets you choose from a range of optional modules to suit your preferences in years 2 and 3, from Political Geography to Global Warming to Post-Capitalist Cities. Fieldwork is a key part of the experience of doing Geography at Royal Holloway. As well as being excellent research training, our extensive programme of fieldwork helps bring the department together as a real community. The department offers a substantial and exciting range of field trips in the UK and overseas. Current locations include Cyprus, Spain, Malawi, Sicily, London and New York. The cost of the Year 1 fieldtrip to Spain is included in the student fee.
