A foundation year can help you adjust after high school study so you are ready to join year one of your chosen degree programme. Foundations are perfect if you need an extra layer of study and support.

All our Foundation courses covered in this section lead to Manchester Metropolitan University degrees via an International Year One course. progression is automatic if you pass all required modules.

Your visa will cover the entire period of study in both your foundation year and bachelor’s degree, so there is no need to reapply after you have completed your foundation.

Foundation in Science

Leading to : Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Chemistry

On our BSc (Hons) Chemistry degree, we combine hands-on laboratory experience with classroom learning to provide you with the specialist knowledge and skills you’ll need to pursue a career or further study in the chemical sciences.

You’ll study core areas like inorganic, organic, physical, and analytical chemistry while exploring specialist fields such as synthetic chemistry, catalysis, materials chemistry, and green chemistry - equipping you with skills for real-world applications and sustainable solutions.

Our curriculum is designed to align with industry needs and developments, equipping you with the skills employers demand—like planning and conducting experiments independently, interpreting outcomes, and adapting methodologies to solve unfamiliar problems. 

This degree also provides the option to spend an additional year broadening your horizons, either through a placement in industry or studying with one of our partner universities overseas, subject to availability.
