Progression from Foundation

The Law pathway subjects prepare students for law degrees at Keele are informed by research and offer a critical approach to legal education in an enriched, inclusive environment, involving a range of professional activities and support. You will be able to go on to train as a solicitor or barrister following graduation, or prepare for a legal career of your choice from a range of options.

The Humanities and Social Sciences subjects are focused on the ways in which we engage with one another as human beings in contexts ranging from the local to the global. The research and teaching at Keele University focuses on the varied dimensions of human experience and on the full range of cultural, economic and social challenges we face in a fast-changing world.

Leading to Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Psychology and Education

Are you interested in the educational influences on learning and development? Our Psychology and Education accredited degree combines psychological and educational theory-based methodologies to discover how young people and adolescents evolve within educational settings. Build a wide range of skills, applicable to various, rewarding careers including teaching, educational psychology, youth work and social work.

Our Psychology and Education BPS accredited degree will provide you with an in-depth understanding of the mind and behaviour to examine how young children and adolescents learn and develop within an educational setting. You will explore a range of topics that focus on how psychology impacts everyday life including biological bases of behaviour, cognition, individual differences, human social interaction and lifespan development. To bring your learning to life, you will design and conduct your own psychological studies in our state-of-the art laboratories, for example conducting experiments or designing surveys.

Education modules have a strong focus on contemporary issues in education and policy making. You will consider topics including education's relationship to the economy, the nature of learning, childhood and educational inclusion, as well as the history of education.

In your final year you will have the opportunity to tailor your degree to your career aspirations or interests by choosing from a range of optional modules such as: Psychology of Climate Change, Health and Disease, Models of Cognition, and Race, Politics and Education.

You will also work on a final year project. This is an exciting opportunity to conduct a piece of research on a topic of your choice. You will work with an academic supervisor to develop a scientific research question you can address.
