Program Overview

International Foundation – helping you to develop specialist knowledge, language and study skills, this intensive one-year study abroad pathway program will bridge the gap between high school and undergraduate study.

Prepare for entry to Year 2 of a four-year undergraduate degree at the University of Stirling. Progress to a wide range of subjects, from media, journalism and politics to sociology, psychology and sport studies.

If you have a higher English language level, you may qualify for our iCAS – integrated Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) – programme. Combining your pathway and degree in a single study plan, you’ll only need one visa for the duration of your studies and can apply with alternative English language qualifications to IELTS.

Leading to:- Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Politics and Social Policy
Politics permeates every aspect of our lives – shaping our opinions, informing our decisions and helping us to understand what motivates people.

When you study Politics at the University of Stirling, you’ll increase your awareness of the different political systems, ideologies and policies that impact people’s lives regionally, nationally and globally. We’re ranked among the best universities for Politics in Scotland, and are highly regarded for our strong, research-led approach to teaching.

A Politics degree helps you develop the intellectual, communication and analytical skills employers are looking for. You’ll open the door to a wide range of career opportunities – from politics itself, to connected arenas such as commerce, civil service, journalism, law and teaching. There are also plenty of opportunities to broaden your horizons by studying abroad during your course, including through our Politics-specific partnership with the University of Gothenburg in Sweden.

Our Sociology and Social Policy course will help you understand the way society works, and the processes and outcomes of social welfare.

Studying Sociology will help you to understand how society works. You’ll learn about the ways in which society shapes individuals and how individuals create society. And you’ll explore crucial questions about diversity, discrimination and inequality in the 21st century.

Social Policy takes this to the next level, examining the ways in which states and societies try to address social problems. You’ll learn about how social policy is made and explore the debates around what works to address contemporary social issues.
