Program Overview

The Human Rights & Global Justice program aims to provide students with a solid understanding of the importance of human rights as a matter of universal significance through the delivery of a comprehensive but focused curriculum. As a student in this program, you will explore human rights through the lens of feminism, anti-racism, Indigenous perspectives and knowledges, sexual diversity, and class-based discrimination. You will also develop your critical thinking through examinations of human rights and justice through history, philosophy, culture, economics, and other academic perspectives. Gain hands-on experience through co-op, research, field placements, and other applied learning and career opportunities.

Resume Boosters:

  • Gain a competitive edge in your career pursuits through the four-year co-op stream, completing 12 months of relevant, paid work experience over three work terms at related organizations
  • Participate in the Trent in Ghana or Trent in Bolivia study abroad program– including a placement with an organization that will expand your first-hand perspectives of human rights and global justice
  • Combine your B.A. with a LL.B and graduate with two degrees in just six years as part of the Trent/Swansea Dual Degree program. Begin your studies at Trent, then take your education across the Atlantic to Wales as you live, learn, travel, explore, and live abroad, before returning to Trent to complete your honours degree credentials
  • Apply your learning and critical thinking skills through a community-based research project, exploring an issue or research question, such as migration, with a local community organization
