Program Overview

Humber’s Acting for Film and Television diploma program covers the full spectrum of training needed to succeed as a screen actor: acting, voice, movement, improvisation, screenwriting and script analysis. You’ll learn what it takes to express yourself through the art and craft of screen acting, gain on-camera confidence and learn how to shine at auditions. When you graduate, you’ll have a solid understanding of the craft and industry – its history, protocols and professional standards.

Our program has one of the most comprehensive curricula in Canada and is taught by respected professional actors. Workshop simulations, screen demos, voice-over demos and our spring motion picture showcase provide you with unequalled opportunities to experience the world of screen acting. You will review and discuss your work with some of the acting world’s most recognizable faces, as well as with key industry personnel.

International students who apply to an eligible full-time Humber program starting in Fall 2025 or Winter 2026, accept their offer of admission and submit their study permit application to IRCC between April 14 and July 15, 2025, may receive a $2,000 bursary.

To receive and retain the award, applicants must:

  • Accept an offer of admission to a full-time program at Humber (not including the English for Academic Purposes program)? before July 15, 2025 for Sept 2025 and 30 Sept for Jan 2026. The offer must be for a program starting in Fall 2025 or Winter 2026. Applicants with a prior Fall 2025 or Winter 2026 application or 2025 PAL, issued before April 14, 2025, will not be considered.
  • Apply for a study permit before July 15, 2025 and Jan 2026 - Sept 30, 2025. This will be confirmed by Humber through IRCC’s Letter of Acceptance (LOA) verification process.

  • The award is granted only once per student across the two eligible start terms (Fall 2025, Winter 2026).
  • The award is non-refundable. If the award results in an overpayment of fees, the excess funds will be automatically applied towards fees for the next semester.

New students starting their Diploma and/or Advanced Diploma studies are eligible for consideration for an international entrance scholarship at Humber. This scholarship offers a CAD 2,000 reduction in tuition fees during the first two semesters of study (CAD 1,000 per semester).

Further details of this scholarship are:

  1. Humber may consider high school students who have demonstrated academic excellence for the international entrance scholarship, but due to the limited number of scholarships available, only those with the highest GPA (Grade Point Average) will be awarded. Humber's admissions team will calculate the GPA based on the high school transcripts received during the admissions assessment process. No separate application is required for the International Entrance Scholarship, as the awards are automatically granted to eligible candidates after they commence their studies.
  2. A total of 20 scholarships will be awarded to new students starting in September, 15 scholarships will be awarded to new students starting in January, and 5 scholarships will be awarded to new students starting in May. Per every starting semester, each recipient must come from a different country. In other words, no more than one student from any single country may receive the award within the same starting semester.
  3. The award will be applied towards the student's MyHumber account as a credit after the 10th day of classes in two instalments of CAD 1,000. Both payments will be applied to the second semester. The scholarship recipient is still required to pay the full amount for the first semester.
  4. Only successful recipients will be notified after the Day 10 of their 1st-semester studies.
