Degree Transfer Extended program - Engineering
Our three-semester Degree Transfer Extended Engineering program is tailored to prepare you for your chosen undergraduate degree at the University of Newcastle. It provides a pathway into one of Australia’s best Engineering Schools. The University of Newcastle is a Group of Eight affiliative member for Engineering and is ranked top 100 in the world for both Civil and Structural Engineering. Automation and Control Engineering is also ranked 11th in the world.

At the University of Newcastle, we train engineers capable of solving the world’s greatest challenges. As a Medical Engineer, you’ll strive to make medical treatment more effective, efficient, safer and affordable, and will be uniquely placed to save and improve lives.

What is medical engineering? Medical engineering is a new and exciting discipline of engineering spanning medicine, biomedical science and engineering. Medical Engineering graduates take technology and create better solutions for health and wellbeing, seeking to improve human health through the development and design of equipment, devices, computer systems and software.

Students who study our medical engineering degree will learn to apply engineering principles and design processes to find innovative solutions to healthcare problems. They bring their creativity, critical thinking, and complex problem solving skills to developing and improving technology and human systems in medical settings. They need to have strong people skills and be particularly adept at working in interdisciplinary teams.

We offer the only medical engineering degree in NSW, so our graduates are uniquely placed to improve lives both locally and around the world.

    Scholarships

    CIE Program Scholarships

    • Up to 20% tuition fee reduction on all CIE programs; amount varies on applicant’s background, e.g. high school grades.


    Excellence Scholarships* - A$10,000/year
    Available to students from the following regions once progressed to their University degree:
    Africa, ASEAN, South Asia, or based Onshore (any nationality).
    OR

    International Excellence Scholarships* - A$15,000/year           
    Available to students once progressed into specific:

    • IT & Computer Science programs
    • Management, Accounting and Finance programs


    Eligibility:
    To be eligible for all Excellence scholarships:

    • Foundation Studies and Express Preparation Program students need to achieve an average mark of 67%;
    • Degree Transfer and Degree Transfer Extended students need to achieve an average mark of 50%; and
    • Pre-Master’s students will need to achieve a Credit average when progressing into their University degrees.


    Rest of the World Scholarship – 10% off tuition fees/year

    • Students who do not meet the above eligibility requirements but have met the minimum progression requirements will get 10% tuition fee reduction per year –worth up to A$17,575 over 4 years.
