Program Overview
This program gives you a unique opportunity to prepare for a career as an environmental scientist or as an urban and environmental planner. Upon graduating, you will be equipped to play an important role in bringing social and natural sciences together to find solutions for complex planning issues and problems.
With a strong focus on practical, hands-on teaching, you'll learn state-of-the-art drawing studios and work on real industry projects. You'll be taught by academics who have a strong footing in the industry and have the opportunity to network and connect with industry professionals throughout your degree.
What's more, you'll get the chance to undertake an industry placement, allowing you to put your skills into practice and make valuable industry contacts before you graduate.
In your final year you will complete an independent research project under the supervision of an academic staff member. The Honours program is a critical element for students seeking a direct pathway into research, academia and employment in many consulting and government organisations who prioritise the employment of honours graduates.

With an expanding world population, understanding the impact and influence of humans on the environment is more important than ever before. You’ll study both the natural and built environments and the causes and consequences of human–environment interactions. You will be studying with world renowned experts from our Cities Research Institute.

Scholarships
Academic Excellence Scholarship
For all international students applying for undergraduate and postgraduate coursework programs at Griffith University with a minimum GPA of 5.5 on a scale of 7.0. The scholarship covers 25% of tuition fees for the duration of the program and is awarded at time of program offer. The student must maintain a cumulative GPA of 5.5 for the continuation of scholarship.
Vice Chancellor's International Scholarship
Our Vice Chancellor's International Scholarship rewards exceptional students applying for undergraduate and postgraduate coursework degree programs at Griffith University. The scholarship covers 50% of tuition fees for the duration of the program and requires a separate application process. A separate application is needed.
Eligibility
To be eligible, you must:
- Be a citizen of a country other than Australia or New Zealand.
- Have a minimum GPA in previous studies of 5.5 or above on a 7 point scale or equivalent in the most recent recognised qualification.
- We offer a range of scholarships and awards to support international students studying our undergraduate, postgraduate, research and pathway programs.
- Satisfy all academic and English language entry requirements for your chosen undergraduate or postgraduate coursework program. Be a full-time student starting in 2024, 2025 or 2026.
- Excludes the following programs: Bachelor of Medical Science, Bachelor of Dental Health Science, Doctor of Medicine, Master of Dentistry, Master of Pharmacy, Master of Speech Pathology and Graduate Diploma of Flight Management.
