Coastal Carolina University International Merit Awards-Coastal Carolina University offers merit awards to outstanding international freshman and transfer students based on academic excellence. These awards are automatically granted to qualified applicants who apply by the published priority deadlines.

International Freshman Awards
Priority Admission Deadlines for all Freshman Awards:
Fall Semester: October 15 (Early Decision), November 15 (Early Action), February 1 (Regular Decision)
Spring Semester: November 1

Presidential Scholarship Criteria:
1450 New SAT or 32 ACT or 637 TOEFL pBT or 110 TOEFL iBT or 8.0 IELTS or 130 Duolingo English Test; AND
U.S. equivalent of an A average High School GPA

President’s Scholar Award Criteria:
1310 New SAT or 27 ACT or 607 TOEFL pBT or 102 TOEFL iBT or 7.5 IELTS or 120 Duolingo English Test; AND
U.S. equivalent of a B+ average High School GPA

Provost's Scholar Award Criteria:
1270 New SAT or 26 ACT or 577 TOEFL pBT or 90 TOEFL iBT or 7.0 IELTS or 110 Duolingo English Test; AND
U.S. equivalent of a B+ average High School GPA

Coastal Scholar Award Criteria:
1170 New SAT or 24 ACT or 550 TOEFL pBT or 79 TOEFL iBT or 6.5 IELTS or 105 Duolingo English Test; AND
U.S. equivalent of a B+ average High School GPA

Teal Scholar Award Criteria:
1120 New SAT or 22 ACT or 537 TOEFL pBT or 74 TOEFL iBT or 6.5 IELTS or 100 Duolingo English Test; AND
U.S. equivalent of a B average High School GPA

International Transfer Awards
Priority Admission Deadlines for all Transfer Awards:
Fall Semester: June 1
Spring Semester: November 1

Transfer Scholar Level I Award Criteria:
Minimum 30 transferable credits; AND
Cumulative Collegiate GPA 3.50 – 4.00

Transfer Scholar Level II Award Criteria:
Minimum 30 transferable credits; AND
Cumulative Collegiate GPA 3.25 - 3.49

Transfer Scholar Level III Award Criteria:
Minimum 30 transferable credits; AND
Cumulative Collegiate GPA 2.90 – 3.24

General Conditions for All Merit Awards:
Only one merit award can be received per student and cannot be combined with other merit awards or certain tuition waivers (Academic Common Market, Sister-State agreement).
No separate application is required; all applicants are reviewed for eligibility.
Students must be enrolled as full-time students (12 to 18 credit hours per semester) for annual renewal.
Annual renewal conditions must be met.
Transfer students typically need a minimum of 30 transferable credit hours.
Award eligibility is primarily determined by GPA and standardized test scores for freshmen, and cumulative collegiate GPA for transfers. A comprehensive review may also be considered.

International Freshman Awards
Presidential Scholarship Amount: $17,988 per year
President’s Scholar Award Amount: $13,000 per year
Provost's Scholar Award Amount: $10,000 per year
Coastal Scholar Award Amount: $7,500 per year
Teal Scholar Award Amount: $4,500 per year

International Transfer Awards
Transfer Scholar Level I Award Amount: $10,000 per year
Transfer Scholar Level II Award Amount: $7,500 per year
Transfer Scholar Level III Award Amount: $4,500 per year
