Whitireia and WelTec - Wellington Campus Overview

Whitireia and WelTec are known for their high student success rates and culturally diverse student body. Every year we train over 8,000 students who study at one of our campuses across the Wellington region.

We offer a range of programmes of study at certificate, diploma, degree, postgraduate and Master’s levels. Our programmes have been developed in conjunction with industry to offer excellent vocational qualifications that are future-focused and provide akonga with practical skills so you can pursue your career goals.

Whitireia is named after the Whitireia maunga (mountain) of Titahi Bay – the mountain that Ngati Toa Rangatira identifies with, the highest mountain in their rohe. WelTec is one of Aotearoa New Zealand's oldest tertiary education institutions and the second-oldest in Wellington since 1904. Learn more about our history here

Wellington Campus

Our modern Hospitality Campus is located on Wellington’s famous Cuba Street, just a 15-minute walk from Wellington railway station. Being on Cuba Street means we’re in the middle of everything that goes on culinary wise. Walk out the door, and you’re never far away from Wellington’s most well-known attractions like Te Papa and Wellington Cable Car. There are loads of bars, restaurants, cinemas and venues along the street, and tucked away in secret lanes. This campus is also home to our training restaurant Bistro 52 and the Latte Lab cafe.
