Program Overview

Western Atlantic University School of Medicine (WAUSM) and its partners recognize the need for a pathway for international students to access clerkship and residency opportunities in the United States and has created a unique program that allows students to earn a Bachelor’s Degree and Doctor of Medicine (MD) in six years

WAUSM Advantage

An accredited, progressive medical school located in Freeport, Grand Bahama, WAUSM provides deserving students the opportunity to become outstanding, patient-centered MDs.

WAUSM’s rigorous 6-Year Bachelor to MD pathway offers driven, high-achieving students a faster, more affordable route to becoming practicing physicians—enabling them to enter the workforce and begin earning significantly sooner than traditional medical education timelines around the world.

WAUSM students are eligible to take the USMLE Step exams, secure residency placements in the U.S. and Canada, and graduate from a U.S.-recognized, accredited medical school.

Our leadership and faculty, who have trained over 25,000 physicians, are deeply committed to student success.

With a 7:1 student-to-faculty ratio, WAUSM prioritizes personalized learning and mentorship. Our progressive, flipped-classroom MD Program fosters active, hands-on learning – empowering students to think critically and apply knowledge in real-world settings. This dynamic approach is further strengthened by a U.S.-based clerkship program at affiliated partner hospitals, giving students valuable clinical experience in the U.S. healthcare system.
