Program Overview

The Associate in Science degree in Film, Television, and Electronic Media Production offers students hands-on experience in camera and lighting, audio production, video editing and media content creation. The course curriculum includes training in cinematography, sound production, screenwriting, digital media production, lighting, digital video editing, motion picture production, and aesthetic film and media courses. Students are required to produce various digital video short projects throughout their study and participate in program and campus media events.

Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to: 

  • Critically discuss artistic and technical choices using industry terminology
  • Assemble creative teams to produce engaging content for film, television, and web-based media
  • Effectively communicate information and stories to a target audience, applying a general knowledge of visual storytelling and specific technical skills from their area of specialization
  • Demonstrate proficiency in post-production technology and techniques
  • Design and execute creative ideas from script to completion
  • Demonstrate critical thinking, research, and analysis skills to understand the trends, terminology, and technology to thrive in the entertainment industry and accomplish professional and personal goals
  • Demonstrate basic troubleshooting skills and the ability to creatively problem-solve throughout the filmmaking process
  • Demonstrate knowledge of historical, legal, and ethical issues, theories and concepts in film history and all aspects of film and media production
  • Demonstrate skills and knowledge to obtain entry-level professional employment in an area of specialization
