The Department of Sociology offers a curriculum and faculty support that help students develop critical thinking skills about aspects of social life. It also teaches them to interpret and evaluate data systematically, and to improve their listening, speaking, observing, and analytical writing abilities.

Studying sociology equips students with valuable professional skills, such as formulating and answering research questions about complex social issues, writing clearly and engagingly, and addressing societal problems through systematic research. The department focuses on topics like health and healthcare, international inequality, crime and justice, social services and public policy, urban life and planning, political economy, and media and popular culture.

    Scholarships

    International Student Merit Scholarship: This four-year scholarship (two to three years for transfers) is awarded to prospective international students based on their cumulative grade point average and standardized test scores.
