Program Overview

The health sciences degree at the Mount prepares you to enter graduate school for or work toward a career in nursing, physical therapy or occupational therapy.

You’ll study anatomy, physiology, biostatistics and bioorganic chemistry, as well as topics related to medical technology, human dignity, issues of fairness in health care and the origins and current state of the U.S. health care sector.

You’ll have the option for classes in methods and issues in bioethics from a Catholic vision of the human person, health care psychology or the sociology of medicine. In addition to foundational courses, you’ll also pursue one of the major’s three tracks, including pre-nursing, pre-physical therapy or pre-occupational therapy.

The health sciences degree from the Mount will help you build the foundation for a career as a nurse working for a regional hospital, a physical therapist helping people at a community health center, or an occupational therapist caring for others at an assisted living facility.
