Program Overview

A master’s in economics is often ranked as one of the highest paying among all master’s degrees. In addition to equipping students with advanced quantitative skills to help them succeed in high-demand careers as data or economic analysts, researchers, and more, the M.S. in Quantitative Economics (MSQE) provides a strong foundation for Ph.D. programs in Economics and other growing fields, such as healthcare and public policy.

Program Learning Outcomes

  • Students will learn micro and macroeconomic theories at the appropriate level and will be able to use these theories to analyze economic problems and issues relevant to the local, state, national, or global economy. With this knowledge, students will be able to understand and critically assess scholarly economics articles and propose possible pathways for future research.
  • Students will learn practical skills in collecting, processing, interpreting and analyzing economic data with appropriate statistical and econometric techniques.
  • Students will be able to employ economic reasoning in analyzing real-world economic problems and effectively communicate their knowledge and findings both orally and in written formats.

    Scholarships

    • The scholarship award ($1,500.00) will be disbursed during the Fall 2025 semester. To be eligible students must be enrolled at least half time (6 units) during the Fall semester 2025 when the awarded funds will be disbursed to the student’s account.
