Program Overview

At Menlo College, our Psychology program delves deep into understanding the human mind and behavior. Psychologists play a crucial role in uncovering insights about ourselves and our relationships in a rapidly evolving world. Our program addresses key questions such as:

  • Why do we behave differently online versus in person?
  • How do brain functions influence our attraction to others and performance in work or school?
  • What strategies can support marginalized populations in various settings?
  • How can psychologists enhance athletic performance?
  • What impact do enriched or impoverished environments have on academic and professional success?
  • How can we conduct ethical research that respects diverse life experiences?
  • How does identity develop and change over time?
  • How can scientific methods improve life satisfaction and mental well-being?
  • What are effective ways to understand, treat, and promote mental health?

Our mission is to enhance individual and community well-being by raising awareness of the psychological, social, cultural, and biological factors that influence human growth and development. We envision a program where students examine human behavior from both interpersonal and intrapersonal perspectives, engaging in small classes that foster personal and academic growth.

Menlo College’s Psychology program offers a robust undergraduate education with a general curriculum and a focus on contemporary issues such as identity, intercultural relationships, and gender. Our curriculum is built on four foundational pillars: biological influences on behavior, psychopathology, personality differences, and developmental change across the lifespan. Students can tailor their studies with core electives in psychology, liberal arts, and business, preparing for careers or advanced studies in counseling, human services, rehabilitation, education, law, and business.

Experience a curriculum that integrates theory and practice through applied field experiences and a senior thesis, equipping you with the knowledge and skills to excel in diverse professional paths. At Menlo College, you’ll gain a strong foundation in psychology and be ready to make a meaningful impact in your chosen field.
