Program Overview

Sociology majors study societies: how they develop, how they evolve, how they work (or don’t) and how they fit together. As a sociology major here, you’ll build a stronger understanding of our shared humanity — our unity as well as our diversity.

In the classroom, you’ll dive deep into topics such as social inequality, adolescence, human trafficking and gender and culture. Beyond the classroom, you’ll have opportunities to conduct research — including surveys and interviews — in collaboration with faculty members.

A sociology major builds your understanding of human relationships — a valuable attribute no matter what your goals are. The major leads to rewarding careers in social services, corrections, education, youth support and many other fields.
