Program Overview

Gain the knowledge and skills you need for a career in electrical and electronic engineering. You’ll become familiar with the latest developments in the industry and learn how to overcome the challenges they present.

By the time you graduate, you’ll be fully equipped to take on a leading role in the development of modern electrical and electronic systems. You’ll be able to research, design, build and market the next generation of products.

Many aspects of modern life are influenced by electrical and electronic engineering, for example energy, healthcare and communications. This course will cover a wide range of topics within the sector, including generation, transfer and conversion of electrical power, the transfer of information using radio waves and fibre optics, complex computer and entertainment systems, and electric or hybrid vehicles.

You’ll learn through lectures, guest speakers and seminars, individual work, research and group work.

This highly technical course will allow you to gain strong fundamental skills in the theory and practical aspects of electrical and electronic engineering. You’ll have the opportunity to design, simulate, build and test an electrical or electronic system throughout the third year as part of your individual project, and will collaborate with an academic working at the cutting-edge of research.

Scholarships

The University of Gloucestershire Academic Merit Scholarship is a grades-based award, designed to reward academic merit.

We hope to encourage those who receive the award to maintain a high level of academic achievement. Each scholarship is worth up to £1200, in the form of £400 annually for up to three academic years.

To be eligible for this new scholarship, students will need to achieve a certain standard in their Level 3 results (128 tariff points or more from at least three full A-levels or equivalent on enrolment), then continue to do well in each year of study.
