The aim of the study programme Occupational Therapy is to educate and train specialists who would have comprehensive knowledge in occupational therapy, the basics of research, and practical skills required for the work of an occupational therapist, for the analysis of a person’s occupational performance, and for the formation of the aims and objectives of occupational therapy.

Why is it worth studying Occupational Therapy?

The Occupational Therapy study programme is special in that all occupational therapy subjects are taught by lecturers – occupational therapists who practice occupational therapy themselves. During studies, students are involved in solving real problems, learn to apply the latest occupational therapy methods, acquire knowledge and skills needed to work in a team or engage in individual practice.

Already in the first year of study, future occupational therapists study special (professional) subjects in addition to general education subjects: theory and models of occupational therapy, perform their first occupational therapy practice. Studying subjects such as occupational therapy for children, the elderly, the physically disabled, psychiatry and the community, students deepen their theoretical knowledge during practical work in real situations and during clinical practices, for which more than 1000 academic hours are allocated.

The Occupational Therapy programme at LSMU has been awarded certification by the World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT) and is respected and recognised internationally: graduates who have obtained a bachelor’s degree qualification are eligible to seek employment in many countries around the world.
