Program Overview

In your first two years, you’ll learn core architecture skills such as CAD software, building and assembly systems, document preparation and envelope detailing. In your final year, you’ll work with real clients in the community, train with cutting-edge software, prepare project plans and more. You’ll even build a portfolio to help you find work after you graduate.

Get paid work experience with optional co-op placements
As an Architectural Technology student, you can participate in the optional paid co-op. The co-op placement will help you gain real-life experience and make contacts in the architecture and construction industries. Previous student placements have included roles at the City of Mississauga and PCL Construction.

Gain specialized knowledge in modern architecture practices
As you progress through your studies, you'll study specialized topics. These topics include urban design, adaptive re-use of existing structures, renovations, sustainability standards and more. Topics are frequently vetted by industry experts to ensure they’re up-to-date with current construction and architecture practices.

Enter the workforce with nationally recognized credentials
Upon graduation, you’ll be ready to contribute from your first day on the job. You’ll qualify to legally use the term ‘Licensed Architectural Technologist’ by fulfilling requirements of the Association of Architectural Technologists of Ontario. You can also join the Technologists arm of the Ontario Association of Architects, enjoying access to their resources and in-house liability insurance.

Study at our architecture-focused Hazel McCallion Campus
You'll learn to think about architecture from the inside out at our Hazel McCallion Campus in Mississauga, which was built with architecture students in mind. HMC is a living lab, with exposed architectural elements, living walls, and the latest in sustainable building practices. It also has a Material ConneXion Library with hundreds of building material samples, CAD labs, large-scale printers for building plans and more.
