The Addictions Recovery Practitioner post-diploma certificate program provides health and human services professionals with the knowledge and skills to work with clients experiencing substance use and concurrent disorders. The program is offered in a flexible combination of online courses and live classroom instruction on evenings and weekends.

The program emphasizes acquisition of applied skills and best practices in direct client care, advocacy, ethics, and work with families and communities. The program builds upon students’ previous training and experience, and graduates are equipped to meet client and employer needs in a range of relevant settings.

Practicum/Work Experience

  • This program includes 15 hours of community service learning.

Laddering Opportunities

  • Upon completion of this program, you can continue your studies by taking one additional semester to receive certification in the Mental Health Recovery Practitioner program.
  • Laddering opportunities are being explored for related diploma and degree programs within Alberta and across Canada.

Scholarships

New Questers International Entrance Scholarship

Established to reward academic excellence by international students graduating from international high schools and entering studies at NorQuest College. All students must meet certain eligibility criteria for the scholarship.


Value: $1000
Applicable programs: Open to all credit programs (full time students in any NorQuest credit programs can apply)


Eligibility

Scholarship applicants must:

  • have a valid study permit
  • be paying international student tuition and fees
  • provide a statement of equivalent Alberta marks showing academic standing of 70%/B-/2.7 or higher (not applicable to NorQuest Bridging to Post-Secondary)
  • provide a personal letter describing their educational and career goals
  • be enrolled in their program before applying.


How can students apply?
Students will be notified closer to the application start date.


When will applications for the Entrance Scholarship open?

  • The application for the Spring 2025 Entrance Scholarship will open on April 25, 2025 and close on May 23, 2025.
  • The application for the Fall 2025 Entrance Scholarship will open on August 25, 2025 and close on September 16, 2025.
  • The application for the Winter 2026 Entrance Scholarship will open on December 15, 2025 and close on January 23, 2026.

We will disburse the awards when the student has completed 50% of the term.
