Program Overview

Columbia College (CC) and the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) have partnered to provide a pathway program for CC students. CC Students who complete an Associate of Science Degree in Computer Science are eligible to gain entry into BCIT’s Bachelor of Technology in Forensic Investigation (Digital Forensics and Cybersecurity option).


Associate of Science Degree in Computer Science

An Associate Degree is equivalent to the first two years of a four-year university degree. Universities in British Columbia will guarantee 60 transfer credits to holders of an Associate Degree. Students must meet the grade point average (GPA) established by each university for admission. Upon completion, students qualify to apply for a post-graduate work permit in Canada.


Program Overview

  • The Associate of Science Degree in Computer Science provides students with knowledge of the principles and science that underlie computing. It also prepares students to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Students will build a solid foundation in computer systems, software engineering, foundational programming, web development and systems design.
  • Graduates will acquire working knowledge of computer architecture and data science.
  • Students will gain practical skills in solving computing problems of our digital age through the use of mathematics.
  • Students will be taught to program and innovate software catering to modern technology and design.
     


To qualify, Columbia College students must:

Earn 60 credits at CC, covering:

  • English Composition & Literature (6 credits)
  • Calculus & Math courses (6 credits)
  • Science courses, including labs (12 credits)
  • 3 second-year Computer Science (CSCI) courses
  • Arts and elective courses (12 credits)
  • Maintain a GPA of 2.0 (C average) on all applicable coursework.


What is the BCIT Digital Forensics and Cybersecurity Program?

  • This program prepares students to:
  • Extract digital evidence, investigate cybercrimes, and reduce cyber-related threats
  • Hone their investigative and problem-solving skills, and expand their legal knowledge

Academic Requirement

Minimum Level of Education Required: To be accepted into this program, applicants must have a Grade 12 / High School diploma or equivalent, including the following required course(s):

  • Two natural science 12s
  • Chemistry 12 Physics 12 and Biology 12
  • Required plus any two other academic 12s


Note: Students should have a minimum of 75% average on their best four academic grade 12 courses (State Boards and National Open School) or 70% average (CBSE and ISCE) and have completed their grade 12 no more than two years before applying to the college.

Scholarships

Scholar Path Scholarship

The Columbia College Scholar Path Program provides financial assistance to students and alumni who have successfully graduated from or are transferring from a program at Columbia College, and who have demonstrated exceptional academic performance, leadership potential, community involvement, and a commitment to their chosen field of study.


Eligible applicants who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents may receive up to $10,000 toward their first year of university studies. International students with a valid study permit may receive up to $30,000. A limited number of scholarships are awarded each year based on available funding. 

 

Entrance Scholarships

 At Columbia College, we believe that access to quality education should be available to all — no matter where you come from. That’s why we’re proud to offer two financial awards specifically designed to support new international students facing barriers to higher education.

Columbia College Entrance Scholarship

This scholarship is intended to provide youth who have demonstrated academic aptitude and a commitment to success, who are facing barriers, with an opportunity to access a higher education. Students must be a new applicant to Columbia College. Successful recipients will be selected from regions around the world where there are significant, ongoing, and systemic barriers to higher education.

Students must:

  • Have applied for January 2026.
  • Pay the tuition deposit by October 1, 2025.

Scholarships will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
Amount: $3,000 CAD

NEW: Emerging Region Bursary

As another effort to improve equity and access to education for youth, Columbia College is pleased to announce the new Emerging Region Bursary. Many regions around the world face ongoing uncertainty and structural barriers to equitable access to higher education. These funds will be targeted to youth from diverse regions where the impact of educational opportunities are emerging. Successful recipients should have a demonstrated commitment to academic success and be new applicants to Columbia College. A select number of bursaries are available for specific regions each year, dependent on available funding and the College’s commitment to equitable access to education.

Amount: $2000

Columbia College Academic Scholarships

Scholarships are awarded primarily on the basis of academic performance in the previous semester, with consideration also given to involvement in College and community activities, as well as a personal essay. Eight scholarships are awarded to students studying at the University Transfer/Associate Degree level, and the other two scholarships, including the Gerry Brown Memorial Scholarship, are awarded to two students in the Secondary Program.
