Program Overview

Advanced Diploma in Electrical engineering Technology program at Centennial College helps you in learning a broad range of electricity applications for many industry sectors. In this program, students will have the opportunity to utilize their theory into practice via real-life applications. 

Upon completing the program successfully, students will be able to give a demonstration to design, adapt, analyze, and troubleshoot, install electrical systems as applied to electrical engineering.  Students enrolled in the program will be able to find work in various industries, such as energy, process or manufacturing, construction or engineering, telecommunications, IT networks and intelligent building systems.  

You will gain a complete understanding of electrical engineering sciences and skills, which also includes electrical circuits, operation of electrical motors and power transmission that are used in the industry. Students may look for their work profiles as an electrical designer, project managers, field service technicians, technical trainers, electrical controls technologist and many more.  

Co-Op Option
The co-op option in this program will provide you with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience while you complete three consecutive work terms as an employee in the field. This experience not only allows you to put classroom learning into practice, but will also provide valuable contacts for your future career.

To participate in this co-op option, you will need to complete an application process in the fourth semester. If academically qualified, you may be admitted to the co-op program. Academically qualified students who are accepted into the program will register for the co-op preparation course as scheduled. When you graduate, your diploma will highlight the co-op credential.

Co-op Requirements

  • Minimum of 80% of courses completed from year one and two
  • A minimum C (60%) grade in COMM-170/171
  • A cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher (this must be maintained for the duration of the program)
  • Students must be legally eligible to work in Canada
  • Students who meet the above prerequisites will apply to transfer to the co-op program as scheduled
