Tourism has scaled new heights and is one of the most revenue generating industries in the world. It has been beneficial for individuals as well as the society. First and foremost, tourism has generated a large number of jobs and home grown businesses. Tourism is benign for developing and under developed nations which need money to help their economies grow. Capilano University offers an undergraduate program, Diploma Tourism Management, which is a two year program that has produced a number of successful graduates. 


The students at Capilano study the business of managing and marketing various tourism products, including destinations, hotels, restaurants, attractions and events. Students are taught about the business related aspects of tourism and how they can maximize their profits in certain areas. The co-operative education program provides students hands on experience in the real world and the expert faculty members who guide the students at every step of the way. The four months of rigorous and fully supervised co-op work term helps students sharpen their skills and gain more knowledge. This course prepares students to work in the management fields pertaining to tourism and the thorough knowledge of tourism marketing.

International Entrance & Performance Award

Capilano University (CapU) has recently launched the International Entrance & Performance Award! Eligible new international students can receive a tuition reduction of CAD $150 per credit when enrolled in 12 or more credits per semester (typically 4 courses).

Award Value
  • CAD $1,800 per semester for 12.00 credits
  • CAD $150 per credit for any additional registered credits
  • Up to CAD $18,000 total for a four-year degree program

Select diplomas, associate degrees, bachelor’s degrees, post-baccalaureate diplomas in fields including Business, Arts & Sciences, Interdisciplinary Studies, Communications and Tourism. View eligible programs

Initial Eligibility

Students must:

  • Be admitted for Fall 2026 or Spring 2027
  • Be paying international student tuition fees
  • Be a CapU credential seeking student (non-short-term visiting student)
  • Have an admissions GPA of 2.50 or higher in required courses as determined by CapU’s admission assessment
  • Register in 12.00 or more credits
Continuing Eligibility

To continue receiving the award each term, students must:

  • Maintain a 3.50 term GPA
  • Stay enrolled in 12.00 or more credits
Qualifying Deadlines

Fall 2026 term

  • Complete application to CapU by June 12, 2026
  • Pay Tuition Deposit by June 26, 2026
  • Register by July 30, 2026

Spring 2027 term

  • Complete application to CapU by September 30, 2026
  • Pay Tuition Deposit by Oct 15, 2026
  • Register by November 30, 2026
Additional Notes
  • Eligible students will receive award details in their offer letter.
  • Eligible students will automatically receive the award once course registration is confirmed.
  • Tuition fees will be automatically adjusted before payment deadlines.
  • Students may keep the award in their final semester with fewer than 12.00 credits if fewer credits are needed to graduate.
  • Students who lose eligibility may re-qualify by earning a 3.50 GPA in a future semester.
  • Eligibility ends when:
    • The student is not registered for two consecutive semesters, or
    • The student changes programs, or
    • The program is completed.
