I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University (Sechenov University) is the top medical university in Russia. Its history begins in 1758 as the medical faculty at Imperial Moscow University.  
For over two centuries Sechenov University has been a pioneer in the Russian healthcare system. A lot of outstanding physicians and scientists, who contributed significantly to the progress in medicine, worked at the university. In 2018, Sechenov University celebrates its 260th anniversary.

By the 260th anniversary, the university has grown into an academic, research, and resource center of excellence in the Russian healthcare system. Sechenov University develops Medicine of the Future based on a strong academic foundation in clinical medicine, expanding frontiers in advanced multidisciplinary research together with the world leaders in engineering, technology, and natural sciences.

Today Sechenov University is taking advanced steps towards a successful future. By 2020 Sechenov University will become an internationally recognized comprehensive academic research platform integrating the world's advanced developments aimed at personalized lifelong health management and overcoming global health challenges.  

The university's research-intensive environment supports collaboration between students, faculty, and partners in creating new products and technologies. Currently Sechenov University is the only member of the Russian Academic Excellence Project in the QS World University Ranking by Subject (Medicine). Our clinical competence is a key advantage for cross-disciplinary basic research and discovery of new horizons in health and care. Our partner ecosystem allocates resources to the areas that translate engineering, technical, and IT developments into solutions for better health under a personalized, lifelong health management system.
