Program Overview

Most people think you go to pharmacy school to be a pharmacist. But many students come to The University of Toledo to become pharmacy scientists. Our undergraduate pharmaceutical sciences program is one of the nation’s best.

UToledo’s bachelor’s degree in pharmaceutics focuses on the science of designing, testing and packaging drugs in all of their dosage forms — pills, capsules, injections, ointments and more.

Students study the physical, biological and chemical aspects of all the materials that go into the drug. They get plenty of lab experience and use cutting-edge technology to test the drugs and ensure their potency, safety and stability.

Highlights

  • Top rated pharmacy program. UToledo has the most comprehensive pharmacy science program in the U.S. We offer five majors and a path to medical school. Our faculty members are internationally known.
  • Cutting-edge curriculum. Pharmaceutics students get relevant, real-world experience in our labs. They mix chemicals and prepare all kinds of dosage forms, from lollipops to injections.
  • Advanced facilities. UToledo has state-of-the-art classrooms and some of the nation's most advanced labs for research in pharmacy, chemistry and life sciences.
  • BSPS-to-master’s program. This new program, scheduled to launch in the fall of 2018, will allow pharmaceutics students to earn a master’s in industrial pharmacy with one more year of study.
  • Health Science Campus. UToledo pharmacy administration students learn in a real-world, health-care environment. Undergrads spend much of their final two years on UToledo’s Health Science Campus. The UT Medical Center hospitals and clinics are literally next door.
