Program Overview

On this course you’ll get to stretch your intellect and challenge prejudices as you explore the often conflicting relationships between religion, culture and society throughout history and in today’s world.

Religion, culture and society have long had far-reaching influence on educational, political and social issues.

On this course you’ll explore the development of different belief systems, both monotheistic and polytheistic, and also agnostic and atheistic. There’s an emphasis on religious approaches to human rights, political freedom, gender roles, identity and nationalism.

You’ll also examine religious conflicts and social problems emerging in the current global order, along with issues relating to religious communities in connection with secularisation and globalisation.
