Program Overview

Our Sport Psychology and Coaching (including foundation year) BSc (Hons) course will provide you with the skills and confidence to pursue a career in sports coaching or education.

You’ll be supported throughout your studies to reach your academic and career goals by a range of services at the University. There will even be opportunities to undertake workshops in areas such as interview preparation, writing a job application and improving your essay writing skills.

Your foundation year will be shared with students from other specialisms in the School of Human Sciences, which will provide the perfect opportunity to meet other students from across the School and learn about their academic interests. This year will focus on developing your study skills as well as your fundamental scientific knowledge in the fields of biochemistry, biology, chemistry, nutrition and sports science, which you’ll find necessary for more in-depth study in your subsequent three years.

After your foundation year you’ll study the same course content and have the same choice of modules as students on the standard three-year course. To find out more about course content in the subsequent three years visit our Sport Psychology and Coaching BSc (Hons) course page.

On completion of the full four-year degree you’ll receive the same award and title as students on the Sport Psychology and Coaching BSc (Hons).

If at the end of your foundation year you find that you’d like to change your specialism, there will be some flexibility to allow you to do this.
