Program Overview

If you want to develop as a dancer, dance artist, practitioner, teacher or entrepreneur, and share your creativity and passion for dance with others, then this course is for you.

We are leading in the field of Dance Education and were the first to develop a Dance Education degree with the first Professor of Dance Education in the UK. We have superb links with a range of industry professionals and places and spaces for dance including The Royal Ballet School, Russell Maliphant Dance Company, Jasmin Vardimon Dance Company, Matthew Bourne's New Adventures, The Marlowe Theatre and Canterbury Pilates and Movement Studio. Alongside this, we have a wide range of school- based, community-based and artistic contexts in the UK and internationally, where we can connect in-person or digitally.

Plus, you’ll be supported and challenged by a team who are all practice-led and active researchers/academics in dance and dance education. We understand and are passionate about the art of teaching and learning, dance science, body studies, choreography and performance. We have a Centre for Practice Research in the Arts and the Sidney De Haan Centre for Arts and Health that both run events and workshops enabling you to interact with renowned artists and practitioners.
