Program Overview

Advertising

The advertising industry plays a key role in communicating between the organisation and its customers – online, outdoor and through different media and social media channels.

With the growth of digital media, advertising has become more challenging. In order to stand out from competitors, organisations have shifted to more creative and innovative approaches to ensure their brand attracts attention and that advertising expenditure is effective.

This course puts advertising firmly in context of wider marketing and business activity. It is designed to equip you with the knowledge, skills and confidence to work effectively in advertising and marketing. You will learn how to combine creativity with business strategy, create effective advertising messages, and produce convincing presentations to deliver ideas.

The course is business focused, and is designed to equip you with the knowledge, skills and confidence to work effectively in advertising and marketing, measuring and monitoring success. This course offers you real hands-on experience of developing advertising, public relations and social media campaigns, often in collaboration with professional organisations or real clients who are looking for a creative communication solution. Our clients might be local, regional or global organisations.

International Relations

Knowledge of international affairs and skills of clear-sighted political analysis are needed more than ever before, as our traditional political ‘certainties’ crumble.

Taught by experts in a stimulating and inclusive environment, you will gain a historical understanding of the development of nation states and its contemporary relevance.

Examine a range of contemporary global political issues and problems (e.g. global poverty and foreign aid; war and military intervention; security; global governance and diplomacy; climate change; the ethics of torture; migration; racial and gender injustice), the obligations states and political actors might have in responding to these challenges, and explore the links between identity, conflict, diplomacy, and models of governance to deal with the challenges of the 21st century.

We place a strong emphasis on transferable skills with a focus on employability. You’ll gain skills in critical thought and analysis, team work, and the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively.
