AURAK’s Bachelor of Science (BS) in Chemical Engineering provides students with fundamental chemical engineering concepts, including thermodynamics, transport phenomena, chemical reaction engineering, process designing, optimization, and simulation. Through various opportunities, including internships and research projects, students can apply their skills and gain real-world experience in the field. Graduates of the Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering program can look forward to numerous career opportunities in related fields such as oil and gas, materials science, environmental engineering, nuclear engineering, and biotechnology.


Program Mission

The Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering program at AURAK educates students to become qualified engineers who are capable of generating effective solutions using engineering approaches in the field of Chemical Engineering. The graduates of the program will be well-versed in technology and social and environmental issues.

To fulfill this mission, the program provides the undergraduate student with a thorough foundation in the basic tenets of Chemical Engineering and technologies and a broad introduction to chemistry, engineering materials, thermal sciences, reaction and separation sciences, energy and environment protection, and chemical systems. The program provides a strong background for graduate study in diverse areas branching out of the Chemical Engineering field. The technical focus is complemented with topics in general education leading to a well-rounded member of the global society.


Program Goals

The Program Educational Objectives (PEOs) describe the expected accomplishments of the graduates of the Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. The PEOs have been derived from and support the mission statement of AURAK. The chemical engineering program has a strong focus on the integration of engineering, science, and process design with complementary areas of study in environmental engineering, fuels and energy, pharmaceutical, petrochemicals, materials, and renewable energy.

The graduates of the Chemical Engineering Program are expected to:

  1. Pursue a successful professional career in engineering, scientific, or complementary disciplines through technical competence, effective communication, teamwork, and leadership;
  2. Engaged in creating a positive impact with sufficient awareness of the ethical, cultural, legal, and environmental issues; and
  3. Maintain a lifelong interest in learning for personal and professional development.

    AURAK’s merit scholarships are offered to eligible full-time students of all nationalities. The academic merit scholarships aim to recognize high-achieving students who go above and beyond and to encourage students from Ras Al Khaimah, the region, and abroad to join its academic programs.


    Academic Scholarships

    The university provides scholarships and tuition reductions to qualified full-time students of all nationalities toward academic excellence and to encourage qualified students from Ras Al Khaimah, the region, and overseas to join its academic programs.

    • The scholarships and tuition reductions indicated below are only available to eligible, incoming first-year students on a competitive basis.

    Continuing students may also qualify for up to a 10% increase (conditions apply) on their current scholarship based on their academic performance from the previous year and meeting the qualifying criteria.

    Athletic Scholarship

    One of AURAK’s goals is to develop and maintain physical fitness among all members of the University community. For many AURAK students sports activities are an essential component of their student experience. Students participating in these sports activities can develop leadership skills, teamwork, discipline, as well as a competitive spirit! Participation in sports positively contributes to the physical and mental health of student athletes.

     

    The following guidelines are expected to be followed by applicants in preparing the portfolio for being considered for the Athletic Scholarship:

    1. Athletic Scholarships providing a 30% reduction in tuition are limited to 1 to 2 scholarships per budget year.

    2. Athletic Scholarships are awarded to entering undergraduate students who are highly talented and skilled athletes. In the application portfolio, you must:

    • Provide the name(s) of the sport or sports in which you excel (for example, Soccer, Basketball, Volleyball, Cricket, Indoor games and Athletics, etc.).
    • Provide a summary of your achievements in sports, including documentation which may include videos, pictures, certificates, and dates and locations of your sports accomplishments.
    • Describe any leadership roles or responsibilities held during your secondary school experience in athletics.
    • Share a written reference letter from a coach/PE teacher to validate your participation in athletics.
    • Provide the contact information for references should we require additional information from them.

    How can I Apply for AURAK Athletic Scholarship?

    • The deadline for the athletic scholarship application is 5th August 2024.
    • The final assessments of the applications will be conducted by the athletics staff in the Department of Student Life.
    • The Office of Admissions will inform applicants of the status of their athletic scholarship application by 12th August 2024.


    Criteria for maintaining the Athletic scholarship

    1. Athletics scholarships are for a period of one year and will be renewed if:

    • the CGPA is 2.75 and above.
    • the student participated during the year as a member of a university team
    • there are no disciplinary actions against the scholarship recipient

    2. If the student is injured playing for a university team, the student can still retain the scholarship for the following year.
