Whether you are designing transportation systems, earthquake-resilient structures and foundations or protecting our natural and built environment, civil engineers help create vibrant and sustainable communities.

Our Civil Engineering program is accredited by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB). .

What You’ll Learn
As a Civil Engineering student at Lassonde, you'll learn about structural and foundation design, transportation systems planning and design, water resources management, wastewater treatment and environmental impact assessment. In addition, you'll receive training in new emerging areas, such as innovative materials and construction technologies, infrastructure rehabilitation, computer-aided simulations, sustainability, natural hazards and climate-change-driven engineering.

You can choose from a wide range of technical electives in Civil Engineering including:

After second year, you can pursue co-op opportunities, gaining professional experience to get a head start towards becoming a licensed Professional Engineer.

International Entrance Scholarships for 2025-26

When you apply to York University as an International Student for Fall 2025, you’ll automatically be considered for an entrance scholarship on the basis of your final admission average. These scholarships recognize your academic achievements and range from $2,500 to $37,500.
