International entrance scholarships

Global Leadership Award (application-based)
If you are an international secondary-school student entering an undergraduate program at the university on a study permit and are currently studying outside of Canada, you can apply for the university's Global Leadership Award (GLA).

The GLA is one of our most prestigious entrance awards. Valued at $120,000 CAD ($30,000 a year for four years), the GLA recognizes international secondary school applicants with strong academic and leadership abilities. Canadian citizens and permanent residents are not eligible for the GLA.

Applications are now available for 2024-2025

International Merit Awards
If you are an international secondary school student entering an undergraduate program at the university on a study permit and are currently studying outside of Canada, you may be eligible for one of the university's Merit Awards.

International Merit Awards—valued at up to $10,000 CAD—are automatically awarded to the top applicants with the highest admission grade-point-average from each of the identified regions. The Merit Awards are non-renewable.

In order to be considered, students must have submitted a complete application for admission, including any required supporting documentation by February 15. Please note: This is earlier than posted deadlines for admission.

Canadian citizens and permanent residents are not eligible for the International Merit Awards.

English Language Centre (ELC) Scholarship
Effective January 1, if you are an international student that has successfully completed the ELC program of study and are entering an undergraduate program at the university on a study permit, you may be eligible for one of the university’s ELC Scholarships.

Valued at $1,000 CAD, these scholarships will be awarded upon enrolment in the first year of an undergraduate program. The ELC Scholarships are one-time-only and are not renewable. Canadian citizens, permanent residents, and students receiving funding from a sponsor or third party are not eligible for this scholarship.

Awards of recognition
These awards recognize academic accomplishments for recent Canadian secondary-school graduates. If you are an international student who studied at an on-shore secondary school in Canada, you may be eligible to receive an award.
