Our location in Ottawa puts you at the centre of the political action in Canada. Students have access to unparalleled opportunities to enhance their education and propel their future careers.
Investigate complex global and domestic issues such as international conflict and diplomacy; populism, representation and democracy; climate change governance; and the contemporary challenges of human migration. Explore international relations, political philosophy and public policy. Hone your critical-thinking and communication skills.
Specialized seminars focus on electoral reform, new forms of political activism and international conflicts.

Concentrations
You can enhance your studies by choosing one of three concentrations: Canadian Politics and Public Policy, International Relations and World Politics, and Power and Political Ideas.

NEW! 2025 President’s Welcome Award for International Students

Value $2,000–$5,000 CAD, unlimited number. International undergraduate students applying for September 2025 will be automatically considered for the President’s Welcome Award for International Students, a value of $2,000 – $5,000 CAD, depending on their grades at the time of admission. This award is offered in addition to other Entrance Scholarships.


Please note that this award is available only to international students entering directly from high school and paying international student fees.


NEW! International Students’ Award 2025

Value $10,000 CAD, awarded to one recipient. Admitted international students who have accepted their offers of admission and paid the tuition deposit by May 15th, 2025, will be automatically considered for our new award of $10,000 CAD! No additional application is required.

Please note that this award is available only to international students entering directly from high school and paying international student fees. Only one student will receive the award. If granted, it replaces the President’s Welcome Award.

International High School Students

If you have been admitted to Carleton with an admission average of 80 percent or better and meet language requirements, you will automatically be considered for a renewable entrance scholarship. The admission average we use is calculated from the marks submitted by your high school in support of your application. Entrance scholarships are offered for fall entry only. You may be offered a renewable entrance scholarship provided you are entering Carleton for the first time and have no previous attendance at post secondary educational institutions (college or university). If eligible when admitted to Carleton, the scholarship value will be determined by your admissions average as calculated at the time of admission. Entrance scholarship offers are not assessed or reassessed on final high school grades.
